Red Moon

Red moon
staring
down at me
in the back seat
of my parents
new Mercury.
I feign sleep.

Creeping through
hospital windows.
Old man, evil eyes,
big cigar,
there to play,
or terrorize,
I don't know.

Big moon,
buttery bright,
withering blind
to apogee.
Horizon's clear
up through
middle age.
